What the Salish sea's Orcas are telling us about Insignificant Wetlands.
We have known since the 1970's PCB scandal that J-pod bio-accumulates the Salish Sea's contaminants. The state of J-pod is a reflection of the Salish Sea's water chemistry.  Less well considered is the role that poor wetland drainage practices, and worse laws, play in the ecology, and the biogeochemical processes that are essential to the environmental health of waters surrounding Vancouver Island in the age of climate change.
