Wetlands and Development Round Table
Friday May 10, 2019 2:00 - 5:00 pm

Masonic Hall 2687 Dunsmuir Ave. Cumberland, BC.

A round table discussion about the mechanisms currently available to protect wetlands in British Columbia and Cumberland. Council and staff of the local municipalities are encouraged to attend. Open to the general public.

How does the Official Community Plan (OCP) under the Local Government Act protect wetlands? Specifically, what protection do development permit areas (DPAs) provide? Where do they fall short? What other protections are available? How can appropriate landscape design mitigate the effects of development on wetlands? Each participant will make a fifteen to twenty minute presentation. A discussion will follow. A summary of the round table discussion will be presented at the Wetlands conference the following day.

Ken Rogers - Village of Cumberland Manager of Development Services
